Didot l'aîné, 1816. 2 volumes in 1 vol. small in-4, 226 p., [3] f., 263 p., long-grained midnight-blue morocco, richly ornamented spine, gilt frieze framing on the boards with palm motifs, guilloche edges, gilt roulette inside, purple tabis endpapers, gilt edges (François Bozérian). Posthumous edition of the poem L'Imagination by Jacques Delille (1738-1813), in which imagination is celebrated as a creative faculty capable of transcending the limits of reality and opening up infinite horizons of beauty and truth. It is illustrated with a frontispiece after Robert engraved by Geissler, accompanied by historical and literary notes, and augmented by five hundred new verses. Copy in a remarkable binding signed on the spine by François Bozérian, dit le jeune. The binding has a superficial scratch on the back cover and slight rubbing or impacts that are not serious, the vellum paper is sometimes uniformly scorched, other defects are minor.
