106. [Marie-Antoinette]. Essais historiques sur la vie de Marie-Antoinette d'Autriche, reine de France, pour servir à l'histoire de cette princesse. London (Paris), s.n., 1789. in-8, 88 p., fawn half-basane. Allegedly printed on a manuscript found in La Bastille, this scandalous biography is actually by Jacques Pierre Brissot (1754-1793), as claimed in a handwritten note by Henri de La Cuisine on the flyleaf. He says he holds this copy from the library of Baron Etienne Félix d'Hénin de Cuvillers (1755-1841), who did not dare affix his bookplate in view of the slanderous nature of the text. Maurice Tourneux tells us that a second part exists, not presented here. Some brown spots. (Tourneux, 21051b)
