280. LA CUISINE (Elizabeth-François de). Handwritten corresp - Lot 280

280. LA CUISINE (Elizabeth-François de). Handwritten correspondence of Mr. le Présidt de La Cuisine with various persons from 1818 to 1861. In-folio, approx. 150 letters, red half-chagrin with corners, ornate ribbed spine, gilt fillet on spines. Collection of various letters from personalities with whom Elizabeth-François de La Cuisine (1795-1874) was in correspondence, either as president of the Académie impériale des sciences, arts et belles-lettres de Dijon or as a notable person (lawyer, then royal councillor, then president of Assises). The letters often have an interesting content, are signed or entirely autographed on the letterheads of various institutions, and many are accompanied by their envelopes travelled with special stamps. Clearly, the president of La Cuisine has gathered here a selection of handwritten documents of particular interest, which he intended to preserve for posterity.
